F and Valco
From Star Wars: Visions, Episode 4: The Village Bride
Version 1.0: F and Valco v1.pdf
For F, I wanted a deck that paid homage to the major themes of the Village Bride: the sorrow and memories of loss, the determination to continue to fight for what is right, and the value of harmony with nature. I think this deck succeeds at evoking those themes with an interesting and unique mechanic.
F's deck uses the discard pile almost as a draw pile. SORROW, her bread-and-butter attack, empties some portion of her draw pile into her discard while inflicting direct damage on an enemy. Often, this will include the loss of her Special or Power Combat cards, requiring her to remember (REMEMBRANCE) her past to retrieve those cards. She reaches HARMONY between past, present, and nature with the ability to use any card in her discard as an attack, and reclaims her heritage (I AM A JEDI) to powerfully defend herself or others.
Meanwhile, F's abilities complement her minor, Valco's. Valco's bread-and-butter attack (SHARPSHOOTER) allows him to deal damage through even some Power Combat defense, and his powerful EXPLOSIVE HELMET attack is made more dangerous through F's quick cycling though the deck with SORROW.
My goal here was to make a "quiet" deck with potential for big impact--and I hope I have succeeded as well as the episode did. Let me know what you think!
